A Moroccan long men’s kaftan, also known as a djellaba, is a traditional North African garment that is both practical and stylish. It’s a full-length, loose-fitting robe with long sleeves, often made from cotton, wool, or a blend of fibers depending on the season and occasion. The djellaba typically has a long, flowing silhouette that can reach down to the ankles. It’s tailored for comfort and ease of movement.

For warmer weather, you might find lighter cotton versions, while wool djellabas are common in cooler climates. Some are also made from linen or synthetic blends. One distinguishing feature of the Moroccan djellaba is the integrated hood, called a qob. This hood provides protection from the sun or wind and is an iconic element of the garment.

Djellabas are worn casually for everyday activities but can also be dressed up for special occasions like weddings or religious ceremonies. The level of embellishment and fabric quality often reflects the formality of the event.
