Damascening originates from Damascus Arab city in
the country of Syria. This art has been introduced in Morocco.
Damascene, or inlaid metalwork, is a specialty in the city of Meknes
Morocco. Craftsmen inlay with a hammer ornamental wires of silver in
a carved metallic surface. Silver threads on blackened surface
metal. The pattern is typical of Islamic ornamentation, as are the
panels of Arabic design on the sides of the animal.
